The American Austin Roadster was first produced in 1930 by Sir Herbert Austin, in an attempt to get around import tariffs on British made cars. The American Austin Car Company was tied to the British Austin Motor Company, and was founded in 1929. It made the American Austin Roadster between 1930 and 1934, when the company filed for bankruptcy, with production occurring in Butler, Pennsylvania, rather than the then-traditional Detroit location. |
