Exploring the Ford Motor Company Dynasty
By Fei Lim
When the start of the Ford Motor Company came to be, Henry Ford, with other business partners, drew up papers to make $28,000 in cash bloom into one of the largest corporations in the world. It was June 16th, 1903, that marked the birth of a true pioneer in the automotive industry. Few car companies can compare to the history and strides that the Ford Motor Company has accomplished. The first sale associated with the company came in July when a shipment was sent out to a doctor in Detroit.
When it comes to pinpointing one of the greatest accomplishments in the world of automotive manufacturing, many hail the creation of the moving assembly line as the best from the Ford Motor Company. In 1913, the Highland Park plant located in Michigan was the first to bring this innovation to the public. A new method for producing more than one vehicle at the same time was revealed as individual workers were positioned in one spot to perform the same duty in a repeated fashion.
Using this particular technique allowed the production of vehicles to skyrocket by providing a more efficient way to make more automobiles in less time. A benefit to the consumer came in the form of a more affordable vehicle.
In order to satisfy a growing demand for affordable cars, Henry Ford started to plan for the future. New concepts were involved and future goals set. In 1908, the infamous Model T was created, which placed the Ford Motor Company in the forefront of car production. Around the globe, the car was a popular item. In 1925, the Ford Motor Company gained the Lincoln Motor Company, which allowed luxury vehicles to exist under the Ford name. Mid-priced options started to hit the market when the Mercury division was established in the 1930s.
As the 1950s rolled around, the Thunderbird was added to the Ford line of cars. Coupled with a business move that allowed the company to go public, global markets jumped at the chance to become a part of the Ford Motor Company. Europe, Canada and Mexico are just a few of the destinations in the world that wanted a piece of the pie.
Today, the Ford Motor Company provides the public with a satisfying array of car brands to choose from. Whether you are the jet setting celebrity or the average housewife, there is a Ford made just for you. On the market, the following brands are attached to the Ford name: Ford, Lincoln, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Mercury, Mazda, Jaguar, and Volvo. With a history deeply rooted in the automotive record books, the company continues to push the envelope in design and features.
Ford Motor Company Future Concepts
There are two main concepts that the Ford Motor Company wishes to push for the future. The first deals with the design evolution of their vehicles, while the second deals with the presentation of different car colors. When it comes to future designs associated with the Ford Motor Company, the Model U is set to enter the marketing scene. A host of green materials will be used to mold and shape the Model U into an attractive vehicle that is good for the environment. The car will be manufactured using materials and processes that are not only safe for the environment, but also for the user. The vehicle will also run on clean, renewable energy.
With the Model U, both the interior and exterior of the vehicle is a joy to encounter. Plenty of storage space is allotted to the structure of the vehicle. Even the outer appearance of the automobile is quite creative as the glossy and matte body installments create a presentation of cutting-edge design and style. Aluminum is used for the body structure where the front side panels are fashioned from a natural fiber-filled composite material. The functionality of the vehicle is also seen through a sliding deck lid and power controls for the rear portion of the car.
While driving the Model U is a dream, the rear seat passengers aren’t forgotten. When sitting in the rear, extra space for legroom is made possible because the seats are positioned on slots that move back and forth. Small entertainment screens will face the rear-seat passengers as they enjoy a smooth ride. Slots located in the back also allow passengers to enjoy DVD players, as well as computer or game systems.
As for the color of these future vehicles, manufacturers have decided to keep with the environmental green theme and decided to take direction from nature. New car colors for upcoming Ford cars includes lime green Ford Mustangs, white chocolate Lincoln Navigators, dark cherry Ford Explorers, light sage Ford Edges, and the Orange Frost shade for the 2007 Explorer Sport Tract.
