Exploring the Cars of Geely

One of the newest lines of cars out there are the cars manufactured by Geely. Geely is a relatively new name in the automobile industry; however, it appears that this name is going to make some major competition and is here to stay. This company is based in China, and while cars were not the first product to be manufactured under this name, more than likely they will not be the last either. While this company is not as big as some of the other international names in the automotive industry, this is definitely a company to keep your eye one.

History

The Geely company itself actually go started back in 1986, and it was not cars that they started out making in the beginning. First of all the were making parts for refrigerators and then they started moving on to bigger and better things as the years went on. In 1994, Geely began to manufacture motorcycles and was quite successful in that pursuit as well, and finally in 1997 the company began to dabble in the automotive industry as well.

Since 1997, Geely has come out with a variety of different cars, and their first automobile was actually released by the company in 1998. Although Geely had a rather slow start in the automobile industry, their sales have consistently been rising in the past few years, which is indicative that the history of this company is far from over and much of it is till to be written.

Geely Cars - Coming Soon to North America

Back in 2006, the Geely cars came to the International Car show, which is held in Detroit, Michigan. Not only are they starting to show their cars on American soil, but they are planning to start trying out the American market to see how their cars will market in the United States. In 2006, the Geely Automotive Company made vehicle history, for they were the first Chinese automaker to show their cars in this car show. Whether or not these vehicles will pick up in America is still a question that has not been answered, but more than likely the next few years will tell the rest of this story.

Low Cost Vehicles

One of the reasons that the Chinese company feels that it can be successful in the American market is because of the competitive market that is available. With the current economy and especially the rising gas prices, many car dealers are finding that business is slow. Americans are looking for cars that offer them a great deal for their money and cars that will be cost-effective when it comes to gas as well. There are not a great deal of choices when it comes to purchasing a new car that is less than $20,000; however, China wants to change that. Their cars are considerably cheaper than most cars sold in American, and they think that they may be able to take advantage of buyers who want a good car for an exceptionally low price.

Models Made

While Geely does not have an extensive line of models available, they do have several that they have released in the past few years. One model that is made by Geely is the 7151 CK, which is a compact sedan. They also have a sports car model as well, which is called the Beauty Leopard, although this car is not currently being sold in the United States. Models are currently limited at this time, but Geely plans to release more models in the future and they are especially working on upgrading the engines in their vehicles to make them more compatible with other American cars.

While Geely cars may not be a front-runner in the automotive industry right now, they are expecting to do great things in the next few years. They are planning to increase their production amounts drastically by an estimated 20-fold within the next 5-10 years. If this company continues to offer quality cars for such a low price, they may rise to be an even more popular car company in the future.
