2009 Maserati Gran Turismo

The new Maserati Gran Turismo 2009 is a performance oriented sports car that will have fans thirsting for more.  There is the base model with a 4.2L engine as well as the S model with a thunder blasting engine that is 4.7L.

The 4.7 engine has a stroke of 84.5mm, an 11.2 compression ratio, double over head cam, 4 valves per cylinder and a 94.0 bore. Premium unleaded fuel of at least a 91 rating is required for all of these models.

Any of these 2009 Gran Turismo models will more than fulfill any driving fantasy, or wish according to most car reviews if you want to go for economy and budget models you can select the base model that is priced at only $110 thousand dollars. Or you can take a chance and go for the gusto with the Gran Turismo S car that starts out at around $135,000 dollars in price. When you want the most performance and power from your vehicle then a Maserati will certainly be the one that will not disappoint you.

The 2009 Gran Turismo by Maserati comes with a ZF automatic with 6 speeds, but the S model is totally different. With the 2009 Gran Turismo S you have the 6 speed automatic replaced by an MC shifting, dual clutch that delivers fun and responsive excitement all at once.  The biggest differences show up in the top end speeds according to car reviews online.

The Gran Turismo S will top out at 183 miles per hour which is 6 miles higher than the 177 top speed seen in the Gran Turismo coupe edition. The Gran Turismo will hit 0-62 in just under 5 seconds and so does the Gran Turismo S, but the S model cars shave another .3 seconds off the mark set by its slightly less powerful sibling.

Car reviews have been quick to point out that the 2009 Maserati Gran Turismo also has a slightly different transaxle design. This gives it a rear weight distribution of 51% compared to the 53% seen with the Gran Tursimo S.

When it comes to features nothing has been overlooked on any of the Gran Turismo vehicles. Special, powerfully designed brakes improve the amount of stopping distance considerably and are highly resistant to locking or fading.

The company has made statements that their Gran Turismos can be traveling just over 60 miles per hour and still stop in less than 120 feet. That is an outstanding feat in itself for any car.  This just goes to show you how devoted they are to making sure that their car is a top of the line vehicle.

The design for the front brakes are dual cast discs with monobloc piston calipers. The combination of iron and aluminum used by the Maserati Company is making sure that there is better weight distribution and heat transfer properties.  The wheels used on the Gran Turismo vehicle are 19 inches on the standard, base models and 20 inches on the higher end S models.

There are slight differences in the exterior of the Gran Turismo and the Gran Turismo S. According to top rated car reviews the measurements of the two car bodies are almost the same. There is just a scant 2.7" width difference in the GT and the GTS.  The side skirts and spoilers are present on both models of these cars.

The sports styled seats of the car are deep, highly contoured, and exquisitely comfortable. You will stroke the leather interior the moment you see it just to convince yourself that it’s real. Sure you will have some black plastic moments around the dash but they do not detract from the overall style in the least.

There are choices available that can be used to add a more customized look to your 2009 Gran Turismo. Purchasers can select one of three trims for the interior finish. These choices include aluminum burnished fiberglass, lacquered wood or real wood trim.

Some people are impressed by the fact that the Gran Turismo S has a more conventional suspension set up. This actually reduced its roll by as much as 10% when compared to the 2009 Gran Turismo S.  In the standard edition of the car there is a Skyhook suspension that is electronically adjustable. This makes it slightly less stable when compared to the S, but still this car is nothing to be sneered at. Only true car lovers will be able to truly appreciate the slight differences in the two cars when it comes to this feature. A few critics have called the Gran Turismo the weaker or softer car, but this is highly debatable.

The Italian Maseratis are one of the premiere Italian sports cars but it is in the United States that most of them are sold. Don’t you deserve to treat yourself to a little bit of Italy by taking one of these beauties out for at least a test run? When you take the Maserati’s company’s new Gran Turismo 2009 out for a drive you want to allow it to take the lead and let it lap up miles fast enough to make you look out the window to see if the tires are still on the ground. Whether you select the standard Maserati Gran Turismo or the higher end S version you will experience the best of Italian style, elegance and raw, rugged sports car power.
