2009 Lancia Ypsilon Versus Concept

This vehicle was first debuted as a new concept car in 2008 when it appeared at auto shows in both Paris and Bologna. The Lancia Ypsilon Versus was quickly considered to be one of the most innovative of the concept cars being introduced during that year.  Now the vehicle has swept past the concept stages and the finished model was recently presented to an adoring public in February in Geneva, Switzerland. The Lancia cars were chosen as a special representative for Milan Fashion Week. This brings the fashionable aspects of the car into view but it also brings the connection of the car to high fashion into plain view.

The appeal of this car has already soared and great interest has been shown by the public. Now there will only be 1000 of these automobiles produced. This will make them an extremely limited and coveted item. Only five hundred of the available cars will be sold on the Italian market, and then the remainder will be reserved for other European auto outlets.

The Lancia cars have gasoline engines that can be ordered in either 1.2 and 1.4 L sizes. However, with the introduction of the new Lancia “Versus”, there is an additional engine package that has been created just for the Lancia Ypsilon “Versus” line of cars. This package includes a 1.3L turbocharged diesel engine with four cylinders. This motor has been well thought out and the design is no less special than the rest of the car.

The 1.3L engine is quite capable of delivering an astounding 90 horsepower at 4000 rpm. The maximum torque realized from this relatively small motor is 140 lb/ft at 1750 revolutions per minute. These statistics are quite impressive when you remember that although the engine is turbocharged it still only has four cylinders. This concept car was first designed to have front wheel drive and this feature was never changed. This gives the vehicle power, traction and smooth, dependable power than creates a sporty drive. Drivers can choose from a 5-speed DFN gearshift transmission or a six speed manual option. Either of these transmissions delivers swift clean shifting with only a light bit of pressure.

This new Limited edition of this particular car has been created by Lancia with the collaboration of one of the leaders in the fashion industry. It has been specifically created to be unique mix of fashion, flair, and performance. This unique Lancia Ypsilon Versus has been produced with the collaboration that is currently between Lancia and the Versace Group. The car is proudly carrying the Versace trademark, which is “Versus”.  To have the “Versus” symbol and mark has always presented a clear and defined picture of youthful, vibrant life and power.

One of the most distinguishable features of the Lancia Ypsilon Versus vehicle is the colorful and quite astounding visual impact that is instantly noticeable.  The designers have clearly intended to catch the eye of the public with the unique Bronze coloring that is used for the car’s exterior. The name of the shade is Bronzo Bronzino and it is definitely appealing to the eye of people of all ages. This unusual bronze color extends to the interior lining for the roof which almost seems to reflect the rays of the sun during the day. You will also see that the exterior mirror casings use this same coloring. This singularly recognizable color will see to it that the vehicle gets noticed at almost any hour of the day or night. As owners of the Lancia Ypsilon car cruise through the streets of a town, they can be sure that the passersby will clearly note the “Versus” logo that is clearly displayed on the tailgate.

This car has chrome door and bumper strippings in place that add extra visual sparkle. There are also chrome grilles, burnished chrome door handles and even   burnished chrome levers for the tailgate. The 16 inch alloy wheels are large enough to grab attention, but not at all ostentatious. The overall feel that is delivered by the appearance of the car is one of exuberance and youthful exhilaration. It is obvious that these vehicles have earned the right to the “Versus” trademark.

These vehicles have a wonderful customized feel that is created by both the exterior and the interior design. There is a warm, brown leather covering that creates an air of elegance and exclusivity from front to rear. The “Versus” logo stands out clearly against the leather on the seats and gives the car a signature look at first glance. Careful hand stitching and meticulous craftsmanship has been applied to make sure that the car does justice to the collaborative efforts of both Lancia and Versace.  Inspection of all interior surfaces shows how perfectly the work has been done to exacting specifications. Even the scuff plates, instrument panel, and gearbox are illuminated and highlighted by chrome finishing.
